CAGLIARI 13,14 and 15 December 2023

In 2023 the subject of the international workshop Architecture Archaeology and Contemporary City Planning will be "The places and the Materials"

The main subject of the workshop will be the relationship between places and materials, how natural and human interventions are related to the construction processing using specific materials from the place and how the natural aspect of land and territory influences the evolution of human settlements.

With title, your name and affiliation, contact email and a text of no more than 200 words. Past researches and studies, ongoing works, previews, master and PHD thesis, intelectual contributions are all welcome.

Deadline for applying: 5 December 2023

the participation to the workshop is free of costs, the accepted contributions are asked to participate at their own expenses for travelling, accomodation and food, the full papers for the proceeding will be required after the workshop end and will be published in open access format at no costs for the authors (participating to the workshop will be a mandatory requirement for the publication).

The draft program includes, on the 13th, morning, opening and first contributions and debates, 13th afternoon, contributions and debate, evening with social activities and visit in downtown; 14th morning and afternoon, contributions and debate, evening with social activities and visit in the waterfront; 15th, excursion in the city, walk and talk.

ABOUT

The AACCP workshop born from an idea by Per Cornell (University of Gotheborg, Sweden) and Giorgio Verdiani (University of Florence, Italy), it is a free, indipendent workshop, thoutgh to promote the collaboration and the creation of links between scholars on the fields of Architecture, Archaeology and Contemporary City Planning. The main language is English, but any real interested scholar, from any country and with any academic or personal experience to share about the topics of the conference is welcome. The workshop is based on participation and is thought to allow reaonable time for each contribution and leaving generous time for questions/answers and constructive debate. The main formula of the workshop in place, thus some contributions may be admitted to take part online.

STEFANO COLUMBU,

LOCAL COORDINATOR OF THE AACCP 2023

Associated professor at the Cagliari University in “Mining Georesources” and “Mineralogical Petrographic Applications for the Environment and Cultural Heritage” and he is president of the Internship Commission. Author of 155 publications in indexed international scientific journals, proceedings, books, and international conferences. The scientific activity was mainly aimed at:
I) geochemical-mineralogical-petrographic characterisation, decay and provenance of geomaterials (stones and mortars) from monuments of historical-cultural significance and archaeological lithic artifacts belonging to the Nuragic, Punic, Roman, Paleochristian, Arab-Islamic and early medieval times;
II) compositional analysis of natural pozzolans and their chemical reactivity with lime and hydraulic limes binders through experimentation with newly synthesised mortars with low environmental impact. 
PER CORNELL,

FOUNDER OF THE AACCP WORKSHOP

Full professor at the University of Gothenburg, Department of Historical Studies. Archaeologist, he is the co-founder of te AACCP workshop in 2014 together with Giorgio Verdiani. His main research subjects are in Urban Archaeology and Urban/Architecture teory and development.
GIORGIO VERDIANI,

FOUNDER OF THE AACCP WORKSHOP

Associated professor at the University of Florence, Italy. Department of Architecture. Architect, he is the co-founder of the AACCP workshop in 2014 together with Per Cornell. His main research subjects are about Digital Heritage, Digital Survey and Virtual reconstruction of Architectures and Urban spaces.
